Prop & Set Carpenters / overhire

Responsibilities and Basic Technical Knowledge:

Ability to comfortably work with a variety of woodworking, sculpture, metal fabrication, sanding and finishing in various materials in a single project. 

  • Assist in the fabrication of scenic elements, including scenic flat construction, specialty props, set pieces, and set decor.

  • Execute specialty tasks such as foam carving and casting as required by the specific needs of each project.

  • Work collaboratively with the scenic team to ensure high-quality craftsmanship and attention to detail in all aspects of the build.

  • Follow project timelines and complete tasks efficiently while maintaining safety standards and cleanliness in the workspace.

  • Adapt to various production schedules and deadlines, offering flexible support based on project needs.

  • Communicate effectively with the Lead Fabricator to ensure all tasks are understood and executed to meet production requirements.

  • Proven experience in one or more of the following craft specialties: scenic painting, prop and set dressing, vinyling, sewing, or similar disciplines.

  • Flexible in working hours to work installs and strikes when required.

  • Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship with a dedication to achieving high-quality finishes.

  • Experience in a theater, event production, or fabrication setting is preferred but not required.

  • Time management, reliability, and a good attitude is a must.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs

These are project-based, temporary positions, with flexible hours based on project requirements, with an hourly rate of $27-32/hr negotiable based on experience. Must be available to work on weekdays, weekends, and evenings depending on production schedules.
